House of the shells
This strange mansion was built at the end of the XV century. It has more than 300 shells in its front with romboidal composition (the name of this composition is "tresbolillo" and it is Mudejar style). Legend says that it is golden under one of the shells but nobody knows if this is true or not.
There are two posible theories about shells:
-A romantic present from Rodrigo Arias Maldonado (the owner) to his wife (shells are the nobility symbol of her family).
-Because Rodrigo belonged to the Order of Santiago.
There are a lot of styles in building: Gothic, Mudejar and Renaissance.
Nowadays Casa de las Conchas is a public library.
