Old Cathedral

It is one of the most important monuments from the Spanish Romanesque. Initiated in 1140 and finished one century later.
It has three ships, cruise and three semicircular apses. It is covered with simple vaults and the cruise is crowned by a singular semispherical dome called Torre del Gallo (tower of the rooster), of oriental influence.
The major altarpiece is of great interest and beauty, with interesting pictures of middle of XV century about Christ´s life. In the center there is an extraordinary Romanesque picture of the Virgen de la Vega, mistress of the City. In the top there is a fresco of the Final Judgement.
In the Old Cathedral was created the University in 1218.
